The 2024 World Championship Match was held at the International Checker Hall of Fame in Petal, Mississippi, USA. Sergio Scarpetta of Italy has been the 3-move Checkers World Champion since 2017. Alex Moiseyev of the USA was the 3-move Checkers World Champion from 2002 to 2013.

ALEX MOSEYEV, USA HAS CHALLENGED THE CHAMPION, SERGIO SCARPETTA, ITALY AND THE TWO MEN WILL BE PLAYING TO WIN THE MEN'S WORLD CHECKER CHAMPIONSHIP'.

OPENING CEREMONIALS WILL START AT 9;30 AM, APRIL 29,2024,WHICH WILL BE FOLLOWED BY THE MATCH WHICH BEGINS AT 10 AM. SCHEDULED TO END MAY 9TH. Referee - Mark Sokolovsky

Dear Richard, Alex, Charles, Joe,

I still have to purchase the tickets and plan my journey to the US.

I WILL plan the journey in such A way that I can attend the Papal Audience on April 26.

It will be an unforgettable event not only for all Italian checkers players, but also for the entire checkers world.

The news will spread all over the world. It will also be a great promotion for our mind sport game.

As a Catholic and a checkers player I feel deeply honored that the Pope has accepted the FID [ Federation of Itallian Draughts

{checkers} ] request to have an audience.

As you know, this year we celebrate the centenary of foundation of the FID.

There will be several events, but the audience with Pope is definitely the most important one.

I will miss the World Championship in Italian style because it will be held in Rome at the same time of my match with Alex.

I know that I cannot take part in that event even if we postpone the match for a few days.

It is not wise to play both events with only a few days break in between.

A person like me needs at least a month to recover from such tough events.

My idea is to play from 29 April to 8 May.

So I will be able to leave home on 25 April, stay in Rome the after in order to attend to Papal audience, and leave to Petal the

next morning, on April 27.
